Accounting talks set to open
11 Apr 1993PRIME MINISTER Shaikh Khalifah bin Sulman Al Khalifa yesterday received delegates to the third Arab International Accounting Conference, which opens in Bahrain today.
They were led by president of the Arab Society of Certified Accountants (ASCA)
Talal Abu-Ghazaleh and vice president Fouad Ala-udeen.
The Premier welcomed the guests and wished them luck and success in their deliberations.
He also underlined Bahrain’s keenness to host such regional and international conferences and seminars in upgrading accountancy in the Arab world.
Mr. Abu-Ghazaleh expressed his deep appreciation to the Premier for patronizing the conference as well as the co-operation of various government bodies for providing facilities to ensure its success.
Present were Commerce and Agriculture Minister Habib Qassim, Labour and Social Affairs Minister Shaikh Khalifa bin Sulman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Minister of State
for Cabinet Affairs Mohammed AlMuttawa and Director General at the Prime Minister’s Office Dr. Abdul Latif Al Rumaihi. The conference is being organised by the Bahrain Society of Accountants and Auditors (BSAA) in association with the ASCA.
The event, at the Sheraton Hotel, will be attended by about 250 people. The opening session starts at 8:30 am today.
It will feature speeches by Mr. Qassim, New-York-based International Standards of Accounting and Reporting (ISAR) secretary general Ramon De Rayna, BSAA president Ismail Amin and Mr. Abu-Ghazaleh.
