Complicity in Gaza Genocide Should be Accountable

Nothing should distract the world from the immense suffering endured by the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip or from holding those complicit in genocide accountable. Urgent action is needed now.

The accusations directed towards the occupying entity are extremely serious because genocide, as defined by the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide, is the first human rights treaty adopted by the United Nations General Assembly. It includes any act that results in the killing, torture, or destruction of civilians natural life. The evidence is clear: in Gaza  hospitals and schools have been deliberately targeted, infrastructure destroyed, and the lives of civilians shattered.

It is confirmed that the International Court is seriously investigating the heinous crimes that unfold day by day, the most recent of which is the mass graves crime at Shifa Hospital. However,  and with the continuation of the crimes and the increasing number of martyrs,   already xceeding 34,000 innocent Palestinians, most of whom are women and children, there is urgent need for action.

The martyrs, victims of these crimes, demand nothing less than justice, and it is incumbent upon the international community to pursue it. Failure to act decisively in confronting the crimes of the Zionist entity constitutes not only a betrayal of the innocent lives we have lost in Gaza but also a betrayal of shared human values.

In the face of these blatant violations of international law and the most basic human rights, the international community stands at a crossroads. The moral duty to hold perpetrators of crimes accountable weighs heavily on all of us. However, despite the escalating calls for justice, those complicit in these crimes remain shielded by the generous support and weapons provided by some countries.

Empty promises, hollow speeches, and shallow condemnations are useless. Concrete actions are required to put an end to Israel’s impunity and its repeated pattern of evading punishment. Actions are also required to ensure accountability, and respect  for international conventions regarding those who violate them by applying justice on all of them.

Effective measures must also be implemented to prevent further crimes and violations. This requires more than empty words; it demands tangible consequences for those who aid and abet genocide. Sanctions, diplomatic pressure, and law enforcement must be imposed to compel compliance with international law and humanitarian standards. The people of Gaza cannot afford the luxury of time and procrastination in confronting Israel's killing machine and oppression, while the world turns a blind eye and a deaf ear.
