Yarmouk University and ASCA Sign Cooperation Agreement .
Such a fruitful partnership will reflect positively on the various production firms and will have good bearings on the march towards development in our country – HE Senator Abu-Ghazaleh.HE Senator Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, chairman and CEO of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization (TAG-Org) visited recently the Yarmouk University (YU) accompanied by a delegation of executive directors from the Arab Society of Certified Accountants (ASCA). Senator Abu-Ghazaleh was received and escorted by YU's President Professor Sultan Abu-Orabi.
During the visit, attended also by Secretary General of the Association of Arab Universities (AARU) Professor Saleh Hashem, a cooperation agreement was signed between Queen Rania Center for Jordanian Studies and Community Service at the University and ASCA in training and professional fields.
The agreement provided for the establishment of a branch for ASCA on YU's campus to hold specialized training courses in accounting, and other courses leading to ACPA certification, and to serve as an outlet for selling professional publications, books and dictionaries issued by ASCA.
The agreement also provided for the equipment of a special training hall at the YU under the name "ASCA Hall", in addition to the provision of 15 TAGITOP netbooks to the University’s laboratory that will carry the name "Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Laboratory for Information Technology".The agreement was signed by ASCA's Chairman HE Abu-Ghazaleh and YU's President Professor Abu-Orabi. Attending the signing ceremonies were YU's President's deputies and a number of officials from both sides. Professor Abu Orabi welcomed the guest delegation hailing partnership between the public and private sectors, as a main contributor in "upgrading our local institutions and development of the society as envisaged by His Majesty King Abdullah II Ibn Al-Hussein."
"We, the academicians, are pursuing more partnerships of this kind, particularly between world of academia and the private sectors to bridge the educational gap," he added pointing out to the significant role played by the private sector in supporting research projects.
"This sector [the private sector] in the advanced world is a significant contributor to more than 90% of the cost incurred by scientific research and research projects," he said noting that Jordan has just made its first steps on the right track in supporting scientific research, which earned the country the third rank region-wide in spending on scientific research.
HE Abu-Ghazaleh welcomed, on behalf of ASCA, such a partnership expressing hope that it will set the example for future joint work between the public and private sectors. "Such a fruitful partnership will reflect positively on the various production firms and will have good bearings on the march towards development in our country," he said.HE Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh added "We are working on the establishment of a center for the refurbishment of second-hand personal computers at YU to distribute them again for free among schools and charitable organizations in Irbid."
On this occasion, Dr. Saleh Hashem expressed appreciation of HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh's efforts saying that "Abu-Ghazaleh has set the example for the Arab world in promoting the private sector, particularly through the cooperation between TAGSB and GJU."

Abu-Ghazaleh Organization and JOHUD sign MoU .
HRH Princess Basma, chairperson of the Jordan Hashemite Fund for Human Development (JOHUD) Board of Trustees and HE Senator Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, Chairman and CEO of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization (TAG-Org) discussed ways of cooperation in a special meeting held at JOHUD Headquarters.
The meeting was attended by Ms. Salma Ateyya, JOHUD's director of Developmental Projects, Dr. Sawsan Al-Majali, deputy executive director of JOHUD, and a number of TAG-Org's directors.
JOHUD and TAG-Org discussed issues of mutual cooperation, particularly in training and information technology used to develop the local communities by employing the competencies and potentials of both sides towards the achievement of the desired goals.
The meeting was concluded with both sides signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the provision of JOHUD centers all over the country with computers, training grants for JOHUD staff working in areas of capacity building in local communities; and furnishing the training hall of Queen Zein Al-Sharaf Institute for Development (ZENID) of JOHUD with computers and equipment necessary for training in addition to establishing three refurbishment centers.
The MoU also covers cooperation in the field of employment services of the youth through the database compiled by TAG-Org, and in holding voluntary guidance training sessions or workshops for local community members in addition to the mutual provision of support for community initiatives and national gatherings for the service of both sides.
The cooperation agreement was signed by Mr. Salah Abu-Osbeh, executive director, on behalf of TAG-Org, and Ms. Salah Ateyya, JOHUD's director of Developmental Projects.

Palestinian-Jordanian Business Forum to boost trade, enhance cooperation.

AMMAN - Palestinian and Jordanian businesspeople launched late Sunday the Palestinian-Jordanian Business Forum to boost trade and enhance cooperation.
The forum aims to encourage holding joint exhibitions and participating in fairs, as well as implementing joint investments and projects in different sectors.
“There are challenges facing the Jordanian and Palestinian economies and there is a need for positive interaction and cooperation to reduce the negative impact and overcome these challenges,” Talal Al Bau, head of the forum’s administrative commission, said at the launch of the forum.
Highlighting the importance of the forum in building partnerships between Jordanian and Palestinian businesspeople, Bau stressed that Jordan is the gate for Palestine to global and regional markets.
“The Zionist entity is destroying the Palestinian economy and we, as businesspeople from both sides, are required to unite our efforts and work together to overcome these challenges and boost the Jordanian and the Palestinian economies,” said Bau.
Participants during the event emphasised that the launch of the forum will enable investors to look into joint deals and projects and cooperate in taking part in regional schemes.
Senator Talal Abu Ghazaleh underlined the significance of the forum, calling for collaboration between businesspeople from the two sides.
The forum seeks to provide technical consultations, training courses and hold workshops for businesspeople from the two sides to boost cooperation and economic performance aiming as well at building ties between Jordanian and Palestinian businesspeople and their counterparts in the region.
It also seeks to preserve the food and economic security through effective and genuine economic programmes and trade exchange between the two countries, according to a statement by the forum, which indicated that it also seeks to familiarise businesspeople from the two sides with economic and commercial law and protecting and defending the rights of businesspeople.

Talal Abu Ghazaleh awarded Shield of Excellence by Canisius College.
Senator Talal Abu Ghazaleh, chairman and CEO of Talal Abu Ghazaleh Organisation (TAG-Org), was awarded the Shield of Excellence by the highly reputable Canisius college in appreciation of his efforts in developing education in the Arab region.
The shield was presented to Abu Ghazaleh by head of the accounting department in a special ceremony at the college in Buffalo, New York. During his visit to Canisius college, Abu Ghazaleh took part in several activities including a meeting with the board of the accounting faculty along with the academic staff at the college.
A special meeting was held with the college’s vice president and deputies discussing academic aspects of cooperation between the college and the Talal Abu Ghazaleh Business University in Bahrain.
Moreover, Senator Abu Ghazaleh presented the Talal Abu Ghazaleh International Award for Excellence in the accounting programmes to Jessica Grogan, in a special ceremony at the college.

TAG organises training course on governance and risk management .
In cooperation with the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group, Talal Abu-Ghazaleh (TAG) recently held a training course on “governance and risk management.
The delegates who attended the training were directors, board members, and risk unit managers at banks and financial institutions from five Arab states; Saudi Arabia, Oman, Lebanon, Jordan, and Palestine.
At the end of the course, participants received certificates from Majdy Zuriekat, the administrative and financial director at TAGSB and Yehia El Husseiny, operations officer at IFC.

The training course focused on the importance of governance for banks, the effects of the global financial crisis, the main frameworks of the risk management, Basel III application, setting up an effective board of directors at the financial institutions, the importance of establishing internal auditing departments, and the role of the management control in financial institutions.
The delegates who attended the training were Directors, Board Members, and Risk Unit Managers at banks and financial institutions from five Arab states; Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Oman, Lebanon, Jordan, and Palestine.
At the end of the course, participants received Governance and Risk Management certificates from Dr. Majdy Zuriekat, the Administrative and Financial Director at TAGSB and Mr. Yehia El Husseiny, Operations Officer at IFC.
