11 Minute Morning Yoga Practice For A Better Day:

  1. Begin by sitting cross-legged on your mat with your hands resting on your knees. Close your eyes and take a few deep breaths.

  2. On your next inhale, raise your arms above your head, reaching toward the sky. As you exhale, bring your arms back down to your sides.

  3. Inhale and raise your arms above your head again. This time, as you exhale, twist your torso to the right, bringing your left hand to your right knee and your right hand behind you. Inhale and return to center, then exhale and twist to the left.

  4. Come onto your hands and knees in a tabletop position. Inhale and arch your back, lifting your head and tailbone toward the ceiling. Exhale and round your spine, tucking your chin to your chest and drawing your bellybutton in toward your spine.

  5. From tabletop, step your right foot forward between your hands into a low lunge. Keep your left knee on the ground and lift your chest. Hold for a few breaths, then switch sides.

  6. Come back into tabletop and lift your hips into downward-facing dog. Pedal your feet to stretch out your hamstrings and calves.

  7. Step your right foot forward again into a low lunge. This time, straighten your right leg and lift your torso into a half split. Hold for a few breaths, then switch sides.

  8. Return to downward-facing dog and hold for a few breaths. Lower your knees to the ground and sit back on your heels for child’s pose.

  9. From child’s pose, come up to standing. On an inhale, raise your arms above your head. As you exhale, fold forward and touch your toes or the ground.

  10. Inhale and lift halfway, bringing your hands to your shins and lengthening your spine. Exhale and fold forward again.

  11. On an inhale, roll up to standing one vertebra at a time. Bring your hands to your heart center and take a few deep breaths.
